August 2005 Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans.
September 2005 Virtue Foundation commits to assist Louisiana and begins conducting needs assessment with Refugees International and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation in Hurricane affected areas in Louisiana.
September 2005 Virtue Foundation sends a team of mental health professionals including a psychiatrist and social worker to Louisiana to assist displaced persons and other hurricane victims.
October 2005 Virtue Foundation representatives meet with the Governor Blanco, make field visits to Louisiana and complete needs assessment with Refugees International and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
October 27, 2005 Virtue Foundation co-sponsors a special forum entitled "Louisiana Higher Education Response Team (LAHERT) Forum: Rebuilding Louisiana through Education" and officially launches the Virtue Foundation Katrina Education Initiative, later entitled Louisiana Education Initiative or LEI.
March 2006 Virtue Foundation launches a digital education pilot program with the donation of 60 new laptops and other computer equipment to Tangipahoa Middle School Hammond and the Renaissance Village Trailer Park to aid children in the Tangipahoa, Baker and East Baton Rouge school systems.

July 2006 Virtue Foundation hosts a 3-day workshop entitled "Rebuilding Louisiana Through Education Leadership Institute" sponsored in conjunction with Louisiana's education leaders, M.I.T. Media Lab and Apple in New Orleans.
August 2006 Virtue Foundation announces the donation of 600 new Apple laptop computers and Microsoft Office software valued at over $1 million to schools affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in cooperation with Apple and Microsoft.
September 2006 Virtue Foundation Louisiana Education Initiative is featured on CNN American Morning. (Watch Video)
December 18, 2006 Virtue Foundation begins distribution of donated Laptops and Software to schools and provides initial training for teachers at Baker Middle School with the assistance of Apple and LONI.
